Lonely Planet has announced the top destinations for 2022, based on reports from the Lonely Planet editors, readers and hoteliers.

The top five countries and one city have already been announced as Morocco’s Marrakech, the Caribbean on both coasts and Fiji’s Nadi.

Aston Martin’s Lagonda Quest – the world’s fastest 4×4 – took the award for the best urban experience.

The results will be shown at the world’s biggest travel event, World Travel Market.

Lonely Planet editor Joris Evers added: “As the destinations that have been selected consistently play their part in our lives, we know that travel is a fundamental part of a person’s life and a tipping point for many holidaymakers.”
